This course will outline the fundamentals of the art of careful and public speaking, using clear pronunciation and good breathing to control the voice. The course offers an understanding of how to project to a large audience or classroom, read aloud with clarity and confidence and enunciate words with proper emphasis. Classic speeches will be analyzed for structure and delivery. In addition, students will learn how to use inflection to stress important points, adopt correct posture and utilize gesture to keep an audience engaged. We will focus on how to organize and structure a presentation, define its specific objectives, and develop individual style and confidence in communicating its message. The goal is to give each student the experience of uniting knowledge, feeling, and purpose into an authentic and persuasive performance.
This course will outline the fundamentals of doing research, aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at the graduate level and at research in and for the classroom. The course offers an understanding of research approaches and skills, and an ability to deploy them in your studies or in your professional lives. In particular, this course will aid in conducting research as part of your studies, as part of your professional life and as additional support for self-improvement by offering writing, research and analytical skills. In addition, students will learn how to properly cite material used in literature research. Finally, students will conduct their own literature research on a topic of their choice and complete a paper describing their findings with analysis and conclusions with a bibliography according to APA rules.
Este curso describirá los fundamentos de la investigación, dirigidos principalmente, pero no exclusivamente, al nivel de posgrado y a la investigación en y para el aula. El curso ofrece una comprensión de los enfoques y habilidades de investigación, y la capacidad de implementarlos en sus estudios o en su vida profesional. En particular, este curso le ayudará a realizar investigaciones como parte de sus estudios, como parte de su vida profesional y como apoyo adicional para la superación personal al ofrecer habilidades de redacción, investigación y análisis.
